Do you remove your tow bar?
We are getting ready to outfit our rig for towing a car. DH is worried that we need to remove the Blue Ox tow bar and stow it away in one of the compartments when the toad is not connected to the coach.
The shipping weight on the bar is over 50 pounds and that seems like a lot of work.
Do you guys remove the bar or leave it connected to the coach? How do you prevent someone from taking it or is that an issue?
We have camped for a long time and never had anything stolen, but this is 2013 and the world it is a-changing.

I have never taken it off but I use locking pins.

We don't remove, there is a lock you can get for the bolt that attaches it to the hitch. We also have a protective cover for it when not in use.

2X on not removing...have a roadmaster that folds up and locks...I do remove it if I tow my golf cart on a trailer or my boat...the RM Black Hawk weighs 70 lbs! Only when I have too ;-)

We only take ours off when we take it to dealer, so they don't back into something! Otherwise we use locking pins and a cover.

I leave mine on the M/H.
I drilled the hole on the hitch pin bigger, and use a master lock to lock the pin in place. Then remove the wire going to the toad and throw them in the cubby hole. cover up the arm.

Even though I park my MH inside, I still take it off. I wouldn't leave it on, especially when the MH is outside, the seals dry out and it rusts. Yes, it is a little work, but worth it IMO.

Leave mine on 24/365. Receiver Lock.
But I Full time.
If you have to put it in a storage lot. Then I would take it off.

Ours stays on, it has a locking pin in it. Sometimes I'll stow all the cables and put a cover on it. I should do that more often.

The only time the tow bar has been off the coach is when Blue Ox takes it off for maintenance. Once it is mounted to the coach, it stays there. One can purchase a cover to protect the bar from the elements.
