It seems that the Swiss road authorities accept the 4 wheels down towing. Since this system with a towbar originates from the US I will buy US made system for my Winnebago Brave. I am considering to buy a Dodge Caliber with a diesel engine and manual transmission. Has anybody done this already for a Caliber and what is your experience. Appreciate your help because there is little or none experience here.

Have you checked with the Dodge folks? I am looking at the 2006 Motorhome Magazine guide to dinghy towing and, while the Caliber is not listed, all other Dodge/Chrysler vehicles with manual transmissions are listed as 4-down towable: PT Cruiser, Neon, Sebring/Stratus.

Thanks for the help. I have abandomned the Dodge Caliber car because our dog box does not fit and also this way is a pain in the neck and cost an arm and a leg. Either I buy a separate flat trailer or will rent a car from time to time for shopping and sigh seeing. We are no full timers and I can rent a few cars for 4 to 5000 dollar or call taxis.
