Has anybody ever flat towed a 4 by 4 dakota?2005 SLT

biglarry, we tow a 05 dakota 4dr laramie. been towing it since new and we love it! we towed a 00 dakota 4dr slt prior to it. both great toads. jim

Me too, I tow an 04 dakota 4x4 with a a blue ox base plate ( very simple install ) and a ready brute tow bar with the intgated ready brake. ( also a very simple intall) Very nice to have a 4x4 with you and the extra space to haul the bikes or whatever in the pickup box.

My dad tows his Dakota 4x4 with no problems.

We towed an 01 Dakota Quad cab 4x4 and it did fine, although I think the Jeep we now have is easier. What are you towing with?

The owners manual for a 2009 Dakota says that you have to disconnect the negative battery cable when towing a 4x4.
You don not have to do this as per the owners manual on a 2500 Ram 4x4.
Why would this be different on the two trucks.
