Does odometer turn on toad

Getting ready to buy a Honda Fit to use as a toad.

One question that came to mind is whether the odometer turns when the toad is being 'towed' all 4 down?

Have a 2014 CR-V and it does not register miles when being towed, so I doubt it does on the Fit

If you're looking at buying a new Fit, make sure it is towable. I'm pretty sure I've read that they're not. I don't know that any new Hondas are towable.

The answer varies.. I will give you all of them.. I will state that when it comes to your towed I have no model specific info.

Some older cars (WAY older, last century older) with mechanical meters, if towed i neutral the answer is yes,, IF the vehicle has been modified by addition of an Axle Lock or Drive Shaft Disconnect so you tow in park or gear (Stick shift) the answer is NO

NOTE: this last bit about modified applies to all ages and all types of odometer with very few exceptions,, Will cover them last.

Modern electronics odometers come in two types.. Again if the vheicle has been modified as above, forget it, does not matter.. But some of them the odometer ONLY racks up millage with igition switch on. So as long as you tow in OFF the millage is not read

Others you need to pull a fuse.

Google Remco Towing, Enter your vehicle's info on the STORE page and the right hand frame (main frame) should contain your answer.

Long, long time ago there was at least one car that read the speed and millage using a cable powered by the left front tire.. I have never seen one, read about one back in the 1960's and as I recall it was "Vintage" then.

Very strange design.

Thanks all. I am especially appreciative of the detailed info as it has been some time since I 'turned a wrench' in anger and thus have not kept up with the latest in drivetrain technology.

I do not plan on buying a 2015 Fit. Can't afford it and indeed the auto trans (CVT) cannot be towed all four down.

I will be gettting either a 2012 or 2013.
