Most do not. Some, typically older vehicles with mechanical odometers, do.

I tow a 2010 Ford Escape and the odometer doesn't increase. I used to tow a Chevy Tracker and it did not register on the odometer either. What do you plan to tow?

prndl-

2009 Honda Fit does not. Remember, though, that your toad's tires DO see the miles, even when the odometer doesn't.

My Father Towed a 1980 Toyota SR-5 P/U 5 speed manual trans. It had about 400 K on the odometer when I sold it in 1998 . Most of the miles on it were from being towed behind the RV.

My Saturn Vue, does not register any miles, I believe it's because I pull the fuse, for the dash instruments, each time I hook up. However, the fuse dose not disconnect "everything", such as the radio memory. I followed the owner's manual on which fuse to pull.

As long as you don't leave the key in the start position or leave the toad running you won't
register any miles.

Older cars the odometer was driven by a cable off a gear on the transmission outlet shaft.. (Some exceptions but that was the most common) Modern cars, this mechanical drive is replaced with an electronic sensor and a hall effect pickup on the transmission shaft sends info to a computer that counts up the revolutions.

This computer does not count less the ignition is on.

We tow a 2011 Honda CR-V AWD EX-L and we LOVE it. No the miles don't show on the odometer. You may want to go to ISIproducts.net and look into the "TOAD Charger". It prevents a back-feed to the MH batteries and it also has a regulator built into it so you don't cook your TOAD batteries.
On the Honda CR-V always remember to turn the headlight selector to OFF instead of the AUTO position when towing so you don't run your battery down. Also turning the radio off doesn't turn off the display (which can run battery down). To turn off the display go to the clock setting. On the display line all the way at the end it says OFF. The radio will turn itself back on everytime you start the engine, so you will have to make sure your radio/display is off everytime you shut the engine off. (of course you only need to turn the display off when you are towing, not during regular use). I printed a copy of the TOW Instructions and keep it in the center console so I can refer back to it when ready to tow.
Good Luck in your search.
