Dolly ??

surge and electric brakes ? I have electric brake on my 10,000 lb work trailer and they work great no banging or pulling when taking off from a dead stop , now do the surge break's on the tow dollys bang and pull when taking off from a dead stop ? I ask this because years ago I had a boat with surge break's and it did stop good I just hated the banging and pulling when taking off from a light, and going in reverse it would lock up sometimes .

thank's
mike

Mike,
My boat trailer with surge brakes required me to place the back up pin in the slide to stop the brakes from activating when I tried to reverse. The sudden and too fast acceleration of the tow vehicle will cause the trailer to slam back and forth between full on full off of the brake mechanism. My boat trailer mfg. suggested slow easy acceleration of the unit while towing.

Not with our Demco KK-460. Has surge drum brakes, the new ones can have disks, but I think it's an option.

I had a 26' boat with surge brakes that banged at initial pull. The surge coupler was toast as the sea water did not get completely rinsed out and corroded the mechanism. Once replaced the banging stopped.
