Dolly Towing

The question I have deals with total weight being towed.I know I need to add the weight of the dolly to the total.but do I also add the total weight of the toad or just the axle weight of the axle that is on the dolly?

Total weight of dolly + toad. You're towing the entire toad, not just the part on the dolly.

I have a Master Tow dolly (others may not apply). It has A GVWR & GAWR of 3,500 lbs. It has a 5K hitch coupler and weighs 550 lbs. I can put about 2,950 lbs on the dolly or tow a car up to 4,450 lbs. Front wheel drive cars have about 60% on the front axle. So with a max car weight of 4,450 the load weight on the dolly will be about 2,670 lbs.

I figured it was total toad plus dolly. I wanted to make sure because if have a motor home with a 5k towing limit, I feel you will be very close to your max. Maybe to the point where you might not want to dolly tow.
