Double towing behind 45'er

Is anyone double towing behind a 45' coach? I tow a 2015 Ford F150 with a Goldwing in the bed and would like to have a golf cart (we full time).

I figured the easiest way would be just to get an 8' trailer and pull behind the truck but that would put me somewhere around 75' or so I think. Also figured that if I got harassed or knew we would be going through a state that may stop us we could break the truck tow and chase the coach pulling the golf cart trailer...

Any other thoughts?

Texas max length is 65'. Legally.

We ended up buying a stacker. Lots of benefits to towing.

I was staying at a campground in the UP of Michigan when a large 5th wheel being pulled by a tractor trailer pulled in & it was pulling a car. Longest rig I've ever seen. I asked him if he had problems and he said he had yet to be stopped and had traveled all over the USA.

I have my F350 set up for flat tow, and also can pull my 24 foot trailer behind it.


I've seen this done by others lots of times, but I've made short hauls with mine and still testing the set up.


I'm not completely comfortable with it yet, and therefor no long cross country.


Someone noted 65 feet as the legal limit for us pulling doubles or single, and that's correct, but like me and many others, we have had no issues with LEO.


The plan to have an option of breaking it down if needed is paramount, and I wouldn't have it any other way.


I'm hoping to move to a stacker one day, they resolve so many issues.

We live in our rig so I don't really want a long trailer as 1. I don't want to have to deal with it when we are stopped 2. we try and stay as cheap as we can on rv parks and many simply don't have room for a big trailer and a coach.

I had a cruiserlift motorcycle lift o the coach for a bit and pulled the truck behind it but I never really liked the way the bike rode on the lift. It just never felt very stable, but it never fell off...lol I may end up going with a hydra lift and then putting the cart in the back of the truck if I decide to get a cart.....

As for over length, a 45' coach pulling a fullsize pickup is pretty close to exceeding the 65' already. Not really concerned too much about the length.

OP's setup would certainly be illegal here in WA and OR. I have them stopped and unhooking the combination in OR.

I don't know if you have the golf cart and/or trailer to tow it with yet, but in the long run, you might consider the cost difference of the purchase against a rented one. Renting should would be less hassle than towing. (I assume you are doing some sort of destination camping where you stay in one place for an extended period of time.

In AZ, for example, towing two trailers is legal but one of them MUST be a 5th wheel. It's the same in most states and your MH doesn't qualify. One choice is to get a 30 foot trailer and pull it with the toys inside or get a stacker.

One could get clever and stack in the back of the pickup.

But room may be difficult but you have height available.

Some state by state info here. Called triple towing by some. Overall length varies by state. With MS @ 99 ft. Type of driver's licences required can be different as well.

Generally speaking you will be unlikely to attract much attention for length unless the combination gets too outlandish. Even then you may be able to slide if your driving in a conservative manner.

However if you get stopped for one issue it is likely they will not let you slide on the rest. Then it can get expensive. A friend was fined around 800 before he had to unhook and was able to proceed. He was not only over length but was overweight at well.

Think about it carefully...do you really need that golf cart? I know there are some eastern parks that are full of them but you don't see that often in the western states. Could you rent one occasionally? I can't imagine parking all that stuff on one site.
