ebrake and dolly lights and grade dont mix

Our Exhaust Brake turn on our brake lights when activating. Im sure because on my Master Tow dolly it has amber lights on the front side of the fenders that i can view in the monitor. Anyways, a 7mi decent along I-77 crossing from VA into NC, I had the ebrake on and dropped the allison into 4 and only had to use theservice brake a couple of times. Great, except the constant illuminations on the dolly lights, caused the bulb to shatter inside its weatherproof lens. No parts places open on a sunday.

do you have surge brakes on the dolly? I know when using EB can cause them to activate.

That should not happen. Those type bulbs are designed for continuous service. I'd contact Master Tow and get their take on the problem. Could someone have put higher power (brighter) bulbs in it? Excess heat can cause such issues and a brighter bulb might be causing the problem.

I have the surge brake version but that is not tied to the lights. lights come from the tow vehicles 4flat connection

the lens is a sealed unit so you cannot access the bulb. Ran over to a BigTex trailer shop and upgraded both red to LED. Easy swap as the electrical conector is std to the trucking world according to them (a master tow distributor).
