I had the complete Blue Ox tow bar, base plate system for a 2011 Chevy Malibu installed by my dealer for $1,900 last year. I purchased the Brake Buddy Vantage Supplemental brake system from a major online retailer for $950. So my total cost was $2,850

Uh oh. There are two very big, heavy boxes on my front porch. Looks like it's showtime!

Base plate = Red Loctite (at a minimum).

^^ LOL! Thanks, John. He's my little heart.

In other news, the Blue Ox baseplate has been successfully installed on the Jeep. Bolts torqued to spec, red Loctite applied, all systems GO! Next will be the wiring...

Thanks, he's a little rascal! I guess today was "Install a baseplate on your Jeep Day." Glad it went well for you, too.

Just as an update (and closure to this), we ended up buying the complete ReadyBrute Tow Package (including Ready Brute Elite tow bar with incorporated ReadyBrake supplemental brake, Blue Ox baseplate, umbilical, and wiring) from TowBarsUnlimited.com for $1459. We then ordered the CoolTech wiring harness and umbilical from CoolTechLLC.com for $140. My hubby did the entire installation by himself in a couple of days. Total cost for our towing setup ended up being ~$1600. Quite a difference from the $5100 we were originally quoted by the RV repair shop!

Now we have gas money left over....YAY!!!
