Excalibar is stiff

My Excalibar tow bar is so stiff I had to use a hammer to extend the arms tonight. Any suggestions on how to service this thing. Looking on the Demco site one can see 14 pages of lawyers ought not to do's but nothing about maintaining the ruddy thing. They do say one should maintain it- uh how?? I can do the shinola on the arm now that it is extended but I don't think that is going to solve my problem- Any insight into my problem??

Update- Mine is the Excallibar 11. It appears the PO hammered on the end of one of the bars, the other just needed some thin oil and rotating and moving it-more free now. Will have to find details on how to take bar apart to repair.
