EZE-Tow or American Car Dolly possible damage

Rich, I can relate. I had my issues with an EZE and went to a Kar Kaddy.

Why anybody would not look into the Demco tow dolly is beyond me - We bought our KAR KADDY used and rewired the lights and put new tires on and have had no problem with it in the 5 yrs we have Rv'd-The wheels steer behind the car and follows very good-we have towed our ranger with atv's and two different ford focus's-Once you get the hang of strapping the car on it rarely loosens any-they are checked at rest stops which are frequent at our age & if little loose I tighten them a click or two-we prefer Demco & will probably get most of our money back when we decide to sell it-Rich & Audrey

While I agree that I too would like a pan or solid surface for my tires to rest on I don't see how if you have the tire straps on correctly the vehicle can "slide" I do have some fore and aft movement, but it is very little and they are not sliding on the dolly frame.

The manual specifically says the car should be left in park with the steering unlocked. I do not leave my vehicle in neutral allowing it to rock.

I am confused by this completely, the EZE tow has removable ramps and I positon them where ever I need for on load and off load and the back tires are not even a part of this process as they never come close to ramp contact.

The exact same tire and rims that Ez Tow uses are available from WalMart for half the price that they charge. I got two delivered next day for free.

We have an older Demco dolly and have used it for years about the way vetternuts describes for local trips (500-1k miles) with no problems.

However, given a choice between towing 4 down or using a dolly, I would choose 4 down every time unless it would damage the toad. IMHO, the dolly just adds another dimension of complexity.

Also the straps had to be tightened every time we stopped for a break. Again with only a 2" beam for the tires to sit on they roll on and off this 2" beam. Not having a turntable type tow dolly the ramps are not always in position to off load the car. So you must drive the RV around until the tow dolly ramps are inline with the with the front and back tires. There customer service was useless.



The only thing I can say nice about this dolly is it weighted less than other tow dollies.

I have never experienced any of these issues with my ACME dolly. There were a limited number of ratchets that were incorrectly manufactured, perhaps yours was one of them.

X2 and after 5k miles I never once experienced anything like this. We tow a Nissan Altima with zero issues and I always use the chains.
