Fair installation cost for baseplate
Just received a base plate for our 2013 Honda Fit and was wondering what the cost would be to have it installed professionally? Although I am fairly handy, this is something I do not want to install myself since I am living at a campground.
Thanks

Hello. This will sound pretty stupid but it really does make a difference in who you talk to. I recently got prices for my 2014 Honda CRV and just for the base plate from 4 different places there was price difference between $200 to $600 and the hours to do the job was between 4 hours and 2 days for all the wire. So good luck

Camping World charges $149 to instal the base plate.
Only if you buy it from them.
$39 for the wiring. Again if bought from them.

Go to Blue Ox's website, look for the details on your baseplate. They will show an IR listing of 2 or 3 or 4 or etc. This is the # of hours Blue Ox states it will take to install the baseplate. Multiply by the shop's hourly rate, and that's a fair install labor rate.
Wiring time is additional. Average is 2 hours plus materials, of course.
Braking systems are also additional time.

I had the baseplate installed, breakaway switch installed, tail lights wired with diodes and a fused charge line installed by a hitch shop in Pentiction, BC for $1150 all in, meaning parts, labor and taxes included.

the installation of baseplate on fit is relatively easy, i did it myself. if you're asking for all inclusive labor (baseplate + harness), 200-300 is fair.

Thanks all for your posts. I was looking for a ball part figure and it sounds like around $400 or less would be a fair price. You all are great for taking the time to answer. Appreciate.

I had a local truck accessories shop install the Roadmaster baseplate, ReadyBrake system, breakaway system, and the diode-type lighting kit. They did it all for $300.
