first time elec brake user ?????

just bought master tow dolly t-80 with elec brakes. put in 5500 reese towpower controler brakeman digital. i trying to set the dolly with car on it,i set digital # so i could fill it try to stop it was 4 after driving throw town driver side start smoking can any one give me some info how to set brake. do u set brake with car off till tires slide than back off just trying to get some info thanks

You adjust the level setting with the car on the dolly, i.e. at the loaded weight.

If only one side was smoking, you may just have a problem with that brake - obviously it was hanging up. Unless you had your foot on the brake pedal all the time, that is. Some people tend to do that without even realizing it and an electric brake can be activated that way.
