As I was leaving Ventura Beach RV resort and heading down Main street toward 101 South, the coach had a noticeable pull to the left. Thought it might be the excessive wind coming from the ocean. I pulled over to notice the front wheels on the Jeep angled more than they should.

Well, seems I missed the key position which unlocked the steering wheel. Can't believe I didn't get it right. Oh well, at least I wasn't up to freeway speed yet.

Could have been worse. At least you didn't leave it in park!

Yep. You lucked out. After everything his hooked up & we're ready to pull out, my last job on my depart checklist is to:
#1 walk around the campsite to be sure we didn't leave anything behind, double checking the spigot for our y-connector
#2 watch as the coach/Jeep slowly rolls down the road a ways to be sure the steering wheel on the Jeep is turning

Pulled away from the house and about 3/4 miles away a construction worker in P/U chased me down. Yep, the '97 Jeep GC's front wheels were just slightly turned. No damage though.

Haven't done that one but have left it in Park. ONCE

I left the parking brake on in DW car, I took of and saw the back tires lock, luck I had only going 30-40 ft and was on a gravel drive. It only takes once!

You can tie a white rag around the top of the steering wheel and watch it move in your backup camera if you are prone to this.

Yep, that is Sharon's job also........ except for the last part.....she doesn't trust me to stop and wait for her to climb aboard

She said she had nightmares where she is watching the CRV's license plate get smaller and smaller and smaller as I drive away faster and faster

If you have an automatic transmission a foolproof method to avoid locking the steering is to turn the key off with the shift selector in any position except "Park".
