Blue Ox Tow Bar Electrical Hookup

Hey all,

Thought I would write up my wiring for others that have these questions. This is on my 2013 Ford Edge Sport.

Here is what I started with...

Here is an image of the hookup on the side of the Edge with the Toad-Charge system hooked up...

There isn't much room inside the engine bay to mount the Toad-Charge Controller. Here is where I ended up mounting it...

That is directly under the hood stand.
On the MH side of the equation, I already had a hot lead to the 7pin connector. So I tapped into the connector on the male plug and grounded right to the chassis.

All in all it was pretty easy. I didn't use the circuit breaker that came with the Toad-Charge because the line is already setup with a fuse to the MH fuse box. I might put an in-line fuse in it later.

Looks good. I used an unused wire of ample gauge already in the 6 wire cable. I fused tge line at both the coach and TOAD battery. Don't overlook the fuse at the TOAD battery, if you din't install one there. I tow a 2012 Explorer and have drug it well over 15K miles without a problem. I didn't use a charge controller, although it is a big plus. I've banked on the Explorer never needing more than 15A and o far so good. A charge contoller is on my list of todos, but not high on the list.
