Flat towable vehicle list ??

There use to be a list of flat towable vehicles published by " Remco ". I can not locate it anymore.

I am considering a 2009 - 2014 Honda Fit ( automatic ) and would like to know if its flat towable.

Thanks

Belladog-

Honda has owner's manuals available online; for example, the 2009 Fit manuals are on this page. People argue about it, but the manual is the place to start. If it says you can tow four-down, you are way ahead.

Motorhome Magazine has guides available here.

I understand FMCA also has guides, but I'm not a member so I can't get access to them to provide a link for you.

I have towed a 2009 Honda Fit Sport (automatic) without problem for 8,000 miles. The tow prep procedure is listed in the owner's manual, pp. 238-9.

Mark

The Remco link may or may not be good as they don't go by what the factories say, so maybe you can tow four down but you void your warranty by doing so.

If the OP wants to tow an 09 -14 would it still be under warranty if it was pre 2013?

I started towing my non approved Toyota within a month of purchase. My dealer had no problem and covered all warranty items.

i have flat towed 2010 fit with 52000 miles now with 0 issues. 2009 to 2013 is towable as given. 2014's is not on the list, but i believe it is using the same 5 speed auto trans which should be towable.

curious, what make you switch out the existing crv?

We recently downsized from a 40' Tiffin to our current Aspect and would also like to downsize our toad. The CRV has been an excellent toad for the past 5 years and 20K+ miles.

One drawback may be that the Fit has to be able to carry my wife's TRI bike INSIDE the rear area. I guess we got spoiled with the CRV. We also have a Smart car that we use while home in Florida but we would need to tow two of them to carry all our " stuff ".

Fit has a big space inside, "bigger" than one would think, thanks to honda engineers' smart design to put the back seat completely down so the entire area is flat. most likely it will accommodate your needs. try and see.

when i changed the tires early this year, i replaced the oe size of 185/55/16 to 195/55/16, thus its nose wouldn't hit the curb in the parking lot. happy with it. i measured, might put on 195/60/16 for next set (3 years later maybe), to get a better road clearance. the speedometer will be off more but i don't mind

Yup.....the Smart car is a fun car to drive and considerably safe for a small vehicle. I may get it set up to tow flat behind our coach to use when we don't need to bring the bikes with us. It will be an easy tow behind the Aspect I'm sure. It will make a nice second tow vehicle.
