Flat towing

we have a 2007 Mazda 3 hatchback manual 5 speed, we would like to tow it but have been told we can"t by several Mazda dealers and the manual says no also. the Remco site states we you can for certain models, when you click on the trim level button on there website page it brings up at least a dozen trim levels, we have hunted hi and low and all we find for our car is Mazda 3, this does not get the information untill you enter a trim level. anyone out there towing a Mazda 3.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If the Mazda dealers and your manual are telling you it's not towable four down you have a challenge.

I'd suggest checking to see if there is even a baseplate made for your car and calling Remco to see if they can match up your model with their products.

Good luck.

Thanks Rick, the Remco dealer has base plates listed for a lot of trim levels for Mazda 3 but as i stated our manual says Mazda 3 but that is all the markings on the vehicle. I quess we will have to take it to a Mazda dealer so they can enlighten us as to a trim level if any. We know they make a pressure pump for some of the newer years. I was just hoping someone out there might be pulling one. thanks Bob

Have you found anything more out about this? I see that Blue Ox also makes a baseplate. I own a 2008 Mazda Speed 3 (turbo) and will want to tow it with our next rig.

A couple of years ago, the Mazda 3 and the Ford Focus shared most of their driveline components. Ford approved the Focus for flat tow but Mazda did not approve the 3. In fact Mazda has never approved anything for towing. Apparently a company policy at Mazda not based on actual facts.

I phoned 4 Mazda dealers, 3 out of the 4 said can"t flat tow, and the last one said why not. I"m thinking the same way if you can tow a Focus you can tow a Mazda 3 sport.
