Flat Towing a Jeep with a Gas burner
I have a 2006 Allegro Bay on with a Workhorse chassis. I haven't got everything connected yet but will have 100% ready next week. Is there a big difference in gas mileage?

I tow a Jeep Wrangler TJ behind my gas Bounder. Not much difference in mileage when not towing.

What do you call "a big difference"?
Seems to be about ½ to 1 mpg less with a towed.

Not towing a jeep but rather a KIA RIO on a tow dolly, and there is no difference in gas mileage. I forget it's even back there.

If you travel in the mountains, you may find a drop in mileage with a toad, but not much if you stay in flat land

I flat tow a ~5000 lb Wrangler.
I typically experience .5-1.0 mpg less when towing.
6.something vs. 7.something.

This is our sophomore year, and we finally gave up tracking our mileage, just way too many variables and way too much stress. What we do know is our mileage sucks, it costs a lot to drive this thing anywhere, towing or not. It is what it is.

Agree. I have a ScanGuage and check it once in awhile just to be sure thing are not out of the norm. Else just gas it up and go while trying not to think about it to much. (-:

We tow a 2012 2dr wrangler behind a V10 Ford and it cost us about .5 mpg. In normal no hilly driving I hardly notice the jeep back there. I actually think that it drives better and doesn't drift or catch side winds as bad. Now stopping is a different story, get a supplemental braking system. I use a brake buddy and it works very well.

I flat tow a 2007 Wrangler 4 door with our 2005 Dolphin 37.5 foot on a W24 chassis. I see no diff in mileage, Although I do like the difference when I go down hill with a tail wind.

We get 18 mpg on our Damon Workhorse when towing 1990 Jeep. 9 mpg without jeep!
Explain - OK Jeep gets 10 but since engine not running when being towed, that 10 transfers to coach.

We towed our 2004 Wrangler (TJ) behind our 2001 gas mororhome over 80,000 miles As mentioned earlier the mileage was about .5 mpg less when towing it. We've towed it another 10,000 miles with our 2013 motorhome, but I don't think we have enough miles on the motorhome yet to get an accurate mileage reading.
