Ford Cmax Toad Questions

Is anyone towing a Cmax and have you used any type bike rack or trailer hitch? I am installing baseplate to tow my Cmax and I was also considering putting the bikes on the rear of the cmax this year.
We currently haul the bikes on the rear ladder of our Tiffin Phaeton but I have never been real thrilled with the process of loading unloading etc and searching for better application and it would be nice to have the bikes on the car to transport to a trailhead, etc.
Any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks

I don't have a Cmax but I once had a custom hitch built for my 2001 prius for the same reason. Bikes were on the back ready to go.
