Ford Transit Connect

In reading about the current Transit Connect minivan, it appears to have the same 6 speed semi-auto transmission that the Focus has. The Focus is towable 4 down. The Transit Connect is not, according the manual. See page 156 if you download the 2015 manual.

Anyone have any contacts at Ford for recreational towing? I wonder if it really can't be towed, or if they just don't want the hassles. Although, unless and until they set up the software to be able to put it into towing mode like the Focus does, it's moot.

It's a shame, because the short wheelbase model is 3600 pounds and the long one 4000 (in the "Wagon" passenger versions).

If Ford doesn't recommend it for towing 4 down, you'd do it at your own risk. Also, if it's not recommended, is a base plate even available? There were many issues with towing Ford automatic transmissions over the last couple of years, use the search box at the top of the page to read of the experiences of others with Ford automatics.

Ford always publishes a summary of how to tow all of its vehicles on their website for each model year. The 2015 guide is on page 11 at http://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/...Tgde_Sep30.pdf. They often change whether or not and how a particular model and year can be towed, so be sure to check for your particular model, options and year.
