Forest River Tow Dolly Specs

I am looking at a used FR tow dolly. The Forest River website lists the GVWR at 3500 lbs but does not give the maximum allowed weight of the towed vehicle. Does anyone know what that might be?
I want to tow a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan.

As long as the front axle of the Caravan does not exceed 3500 lbs, you would be "good to go". About the only other restriction would be the rating on the coupler and your hitch on the coach.

Thanks Gary

I thought that the GVWR of 3500 might refer to the entire weight of the dolly including the entire weight of the vehicle.

No, the GVWR is the weight the dolly can carry, including itself. GCWR is the combined tow weight, and I don't think FR specifies that (but you could ask). It is not usually given for a trailer.

The ball coupler on the tongue has a towing weight rating, though. The 2" coupler used on a FR dolly is typically rated at 5000 lbs. I see one FR model is listed as SAE Class 2, though, and that is only 3500 lbs, even though the coupler is a 2". I'd specify the larger model dolly (HDCD80SA) with SAE Class3 coupler (5000 lbs).
