Are there any issues involved with towing a front wheel drive car behind a Class C Motorhome using a Demco Kar-Kaddy dolly? Are there any particular models of cars that members of this discussion group would recommend? I would prefer something small and light like a Sunfire or Cavalier. The toad would only be used at most for about a month each year so I wouldn't want to spend a lot of bucks on it.

If you don't mind a standard shift the Ford Focus makes a great toad. It's light weight, gets 30+ MPG, hooks up to be towed 4 down, no fuses to pull, no stopping and having start it up every few miles.

Most any front wheel drive should do, as long as the combined weight of dolly and car does not exceed the C's towing capacity. Many Class C's have a 3500 lb limit and the dolly weighs a few hundred lbs by itself, so check yours before car shopping.

I believe the Sunfire and Cavalier are towable 4 wheels down so you wouldn't need the extra weight and cost of a dolly. However, a used dolly might actually be easier to find than a used tow bar and baseplate and cheaper than a new tow bar and baseplate, if you're looking to go the most economical route.

I use to have a Class C MH and towed with a dolly. The car I towed was a 2000 Hyundai Elantra. My C could pull 5000 lbs. the dolly was about 500 lbs and the car was about 2800 - 3000. I'll be still using the same set up with my Class A. Car gets about 36 mpg hope this helped.
