Mody n Domy,

Where do you go off roading. EVERY road I have ever seen has a fence on both sides to keep one from going there.

I know that people off road in and near Moab, but where else?

Tim

Well Tim, this map shows pubic lands, and the green areas are likely to have areas available for back country road use. We do it at least twice a week here in Nevada. National Forests and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) are the primary places available easily...

This last winter we spent 4 months in Apache Junction AZ. The park we stayed at had a Jeep club and every week we went off road / trail ride. The park we stayed at was Countryside RV Park. Also went off roading at Crater Monument park in AZ. Moab Utah. If you decide to head out make sure you have someone to go with you encase you have trouble or break down. We were by our self at Moab so could not do many trails and were only there for 2 days.

PM me if you want more information about towing a Miata.

2X on the Miata.

If I were buying a toad purely on fun to drive, it would be Subaru WRX for sure.
Subaru WRX Reviews - Subaru WRX Price, Photos, and Specs - Car and Driver

I feel like it's the best we can do for fun to drive toads until the VW GTI is towable...

There are a number of "Gearhead" magazines.. Car and Driver, Car and Track.. and so on and so forth. Dedicated to CARS. Generally HIGH PERFORMANCE cars.. You want a car that can go 150+ MPH, they compare them and rate them.. They report which ones are fastest and one of them does an annual "Bang for your Buck" contest

In this contest they have a team of drivers test drive a whole bunch of Different cars,, Mustangs, Camaros, Ferraries, Mostly very expensive high end sports cars....

Well they have a way of assigning "Fun points" based on what the drivers say about them Then they do the Points/Price thing and you now have a "Bang for your Buck" ratio for the car.

So. who gets the trophy? Usually JEEP

Lots of fun, not much bucks.

My vote (but doesn't quite meet all your requirements: 4 doors) is Ford Focus or Fiesta ST. They are manual transmission cars, but must be dolly towed. I use a couple of boards to elevate the car just before the dolly ramps. These are fun cars (similar to the Subaru WRX mentioned above) to drive.

Dare to be different.... break the mold How about a convertible with a bed, good on road manners, and more than capable off road? Probably be the only one in the campground as well.
