I did the Blue Ox base plate, wiring and M & G brake system myself on our 09 Honda CRV. The hardest thing to do was keeping my wife from using the Honda to go shopping for the 2 days it took me to install everything. I'm very pleased how it all came together.
I love the 1 7/8 inch ball cover idea. Thanks for the idea!

Oh yes, thanks for the idea on the hitch-ball covers too. There always seems to be something to find.

Very nice. We have a 2014 CRV as well, and are getting our Blue Ox baseplate and wiring installed next week.

I ordered a set but am having a problem getting them to fit over the top. did you trim them down to the "bulge" of have to stretch them the first time?

I did not trim. They were pretty tight initially but I sprayed a little WD40 on them and worked them on. After being on for a while, they slip on and off, no problem. The WD evaporates.

I looked at a local auto parts store and they wanted $4.99 EACH for them. I am ordering them from Amazon for $2.34 each!

Getting ready to install the same baseplate myself. the price has dropped to $354.86. I just had Amazon adjust my price as I had ordered it at a higher price and it has not shipped yet.
I am starting from scratch and getting a sterling all terrain tow bar and a RVi2 braking system. I plan on adding a charge line to the CRV (2013) - Still looking at setups for the charge line. I also plan to use magnetic lights.
Thanks for sharing you experience. You have asked a lot of good questions that myself and other have surely benefited from.
Regards,

If you have a "trailer plug" already on the coach, check to see if there is a 12 volt wire already there in the plug. On my Discovery the 12 volts was active when the ignition was on only, so it was perfect for a charge line. I also installed a fuse at the charge wire/toad battery connection.

We have the ReadyBrute Elite towbars with the built-in ReadyBrake. These towbars are rated to tow 8000 lbs.
You will find this combination will save you hundreds of dollars over others!

How much was the installation charge for all that. We have an '07 CRV and am thinking about going with the ReadyBrute Elite towbar.

Hi, Joe.
As long as this thread is discussing towing, I remember another thread where you were looking for advice concerning taking your bikes on the moho while towing your CRV. Another gentleman posted something he found by roadmaster that may just work for you, too. Take a look:

I had a local truck accessories shop do the installation. Total labor cost was $550!
