I don't know of any GM vehicle with an electronic speedometer that accumulates miles when towing. I've owned several. Hopefully a Terrain owner can confirm that.

Miles do not accumulate on the GMC Terrain when towing behind a motorhome. Set up removes fuse 32 (Discrete Logic Ignition Switch fuse). Remaining set-up is normal, ie parking brake off, 6 speed automatic transmission in neutral, ignition key at accessory position and all accessories off.
My GMC Terrain set-up is all Demco parts, base plate, Excalibar II tow bar and Sentry Deflector.

How is your GMC Terrain to tow and drive? How does the real gas milege compare to the advertised MPG? Do you like the vehicle overall? I'm thinking about getting one or the Chevy Equinox.

I currently own a 2010 Chevy Equinox. Wife and I love the drive. Also very easy to tow.

My GMC Terrain tows great. Love the vehicle. I spent the extra $ on the touch screen navigation option. Standard is XM and On-Star, I got hooked on both these features. The electronic package keeps me busy learning its features. The normal radio AM/FM keeps a list of local stations it finds in an area in the background. Good feature to find local stations in new areas. At this point I have 5150 miles on the 4 cyl engine. Advertised highway is 32 mpg, my log book shows 28 mpg highway.

Thanks for the responses. It is still difficult to get a Terrain or Equinox here in S FL without paying a huge premium over sticker but it looks like that will be a good choice when I'm ready.

Hi D in Davie,
I never buy my cars in South Florida. The dealers are way too proud of their cars. Consider trying Ben Mynatt (704-786-2151) in Concord (just outside of Charlotte) North Carolina. They always seem to have a good selection of GMC, Cadillac, Chevy and Buick. I've been treated very well and always received a very good price. The local dealers (Palm Beach County) have serviced my warranty claims with no hassle.
The Internet is a wonderful tool for leveling the playing field between suppliers.

Ordered my Terrain from Augusta, Ga dealer. Long wait, no big discount other than credit union and active GM program discount during Jan. No request for $ above window. Just came back from trip in NC mountains, the 4 cyl had no power issues on the mountain roads.

My GMC Terrain, with the 4-cyl engine, has enough power for me. Our last trip was to the NC mountains with climbs to 6,000 ft levels. No problems with power limitations in my 6200 miles of driviing. A test drive is the best way of determining what works for you.

We will pick up our Terrain tomorrow and glad to read all the good reviews about towing....is Demco the only manufacturer that has base plates??? We were told to buy Blue Ox but can't find the plate for the Terrain....so if your happy with the Demco set-up you have I think we will just order that....

Base plates are available from others for the Terrain now. Demco was the only one when I got my Terrain in Jan. Had dealer install the Demco base plate, tow bar and Sentry deflector. This was my first purchase of Demco products, so far no problems with their tow system. I have not installed any aux. braking system on the Terrain yet.
Good luck with your Terrain. I have 6300 miles on mine with no problems.

I just had Roadmaster brackets put on my 2010 Chevy Equinox, which has the same components as your Terrain. Great fit and tows like a dream.
