Help! I just bought a 2009 Ford Ranger to use as a TOAD. I contacted the Ford dealer today to buy the Ford Neutral Tow Kit and was told that this item is no longer in stock (anywhere) and has been discontinued. How do I tow?

Sorry, it is a 4X4 automatic 6 cyl.

Depends on which ranger you have. Try going to www.remcotowing.com

Do a search on the Ford owners forum and there is a lot on info there including how to get around this little problem. If you can;t find it, let me know and I can post here.

Wizard: Please advise how to get around this problem. I tried every Ford site but my keyword search did not find anything of value. It's probably there, but I couldn't find it. My understanding that for the 2009 Ranger, the Neutral Tow Kit is nothing more than an indicator light. The modification to the computer (done by the dealer) is what put the transfer case in neutral.

I would try Ford Truck enthusiasts.com or www.ford-trucks.com/forums They will have a grouping for your Ranger series. They are somewhat like this forum as they are willing to help at anytime.I was on the Excursion forum there and needed to know where the brake controller plugged in and a member went out and took pix and posted them in about 1/2 an hour.

Remco says to get the Ford kit if you have 4x4 and automatic along with their kit. I looked it up in case I want to tow my Mazda. My Mazda has a kit available. I always thought my truck was the same as a Ford.
