Help Wanted: 2018 Grand Cherokee toad outfitting
I've been researching what's needed for getting our 2018 Grand Cherokee Sterling ready to flat tow. Primarily I'm soliciting your opinions & experience about what direction to go with the braking system.
We have a 2006 Newmar Ventana (diesel pusher w/ air brakes). Brake systems I've been looking at are:
1) Roadmaster 9160 Brakemaster
2) BlueOx Patriot II
3) RVibrake3
Base plate, tow bar, wiring, etc opinions also welcome.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Ted.

We use the BlueOx Patriot nowadays since it can be easily moved to the next towed.
We are currently using Demco towing equipment but have previously used other brands.
The only things we can't generally port over to the next towed is the base plate and light kit.

Be sure to read the thread in this topic area about Grand Cherokee "Death Wobble" when flat towing GC. If your 2018 Grand Cherokee has the EPS steering system, it will be subject to 'Death Wobble' experience unless and until FCA designs and furnishes modifications to the GC that will allow safe and wobble-free flat towing. Post-2016 Grand Cherokee vehicles with EPS are all in the impacted category.
FCA appears to be working on but does not have a fix for this issue at present -- see my post on the thread.
Thread is called: "Jeep GRAND Cherokee death wobble!"

I've seen that thread and got through some of it. Thanks for the reminder... I'll do some more reading.

You should also look at Air Force One braking system. Once installed it is very easy to connect and disconnect.

The same problem exists for some owners of the GMC Terrain w/4 cyl (which we have).
Although we haven't had the problem GM has release a revised towing procedure for those that have.

I just had the Air Force one installed on my 14 Cherokee. Also the factory harness for the death wobble.

If you consider the AF1, here’s a good location for mounting under the hood.
This is the Roadmaster baseplate in the front of a Summit.

We use the Blue Ox 7500# /31lb tow bar......along with the RVIBrake2 ,and the RVEEs tire monitors....now if you use the RVIBrake 3.....can combine the tow brake and tire monitors together-nice Feature - and then I use the Tow Mate Light bar ,which goes on and off so easy and gives much better visibility and plugs right in the hatch of the Grand Cherokee Limited.......C
