Help with choosing which CRV

I am considering buying a used Honda CRV. What I have found is a 2005 CRV with 136K mi and a 2009 CRV with 124K mi. The price difference between the two is $3850 after trading in our 2001 Jeep GC.
I drove the 09 and it seemed fine. Haven't driven the 05. They are both one owner SUV's but the 09 has meticulous owner records of everything the previous owner had done including date, mileage, every fillup and oil changes, tires, etc.

I know I can't trade up from an 05 to a 09 for $3850.
Car Fax for both units look good.

So which do you think would be better??

Thanks,
Alex

CRVs up to 2006 are modified Civics with a 2.0 liter engine. 2007 and up are redesigned with the 2.4 liter engine from the Accord. Unless you strongly prefer a manual transmission, which is only available in the 2006 and earlier models, you will probably like the newer models much better. One huge difference, IMO, is that the redesigned body is a bit wider and your head is farther from the side window glass. I always felt uncomfortably close to the glass, and uncomfortably hot in the afternoon sun, in the earlier CRVs. Other things, like the top-hinged rear hatch and spare tire on the inside, are an improvement in the newer models.

01 Jeep GC has 165K miles.
Good info on how close to glass for occupants on the 05. Both CRV's are auto trans.

I would go for the later model. When we bought our 2013 CRV a few months ago, we wanted one with 4-wheel drive. We won't be doing any off-roading in it, but sometimes would like to go on unimproved roads and will feel more comfortable in it. The AWD was hard to find, but glad we found it!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

The 05 has been driven less miles per year than the 09.
I am leaning toward the 09 due to the meticulous maintenance records of the previous owner. Like I said, the auto check for both vehicles shows they have been maintained properly and have a high score.

Decisions, decisions.......

CRV safely,
Alex

'09 gets rid of that spare tire hanging on the back, will likely be noticeably less road noise. I'm sure there's more.

Not much of a decision here....

You will like the 09. I have a 08 with 108000 miles and will keep it forever.
