Help with towing 2014 Jeep Wrangler

I am preparing to go on our first trip towing a toad. I have read manual and some info on the forums, I'm somewhat confused, shocker . Would somebody please give me a quick run down on the correct process to tow and then the jeep back into normal drive condition. I'd be grateful to get get this process of the worry list. Thanks!

Put transmission in neutral, then shift transfercase to neutral, then drive, then reverse to ensure transfercase is in neutral, then shut off engine, then put in park. When arriving start engine, put in neutral, then tcase into 2hi, then your good to go. Always use park brake to keep Jeep from rolling away.

No, you do not have to leave the key in or disconnect the battery.

Here is my "mental checklist" for my Wrangler.
1) Attach tow bar, safety chains, lights and break-away cable
2) Jeep in reverse and back up slightly to engage tow bar latch
3) Trans in neutral and shift transfer case to neutral
4) Trans back to Drive, then Reverse and rev engine to confirm transfer case is in neutral
5) Kill the engine and put trans in Park (don't put in park while running or it will grind)
6) Put keys in pocket (08 and newer don't have steering lock)
7) Setup the RVI2 brake system (takes 60 seconds)
8) Check lights and inspect hookup and ready to go

I do not set the parking brake when hooking up to avoid the chance of leaving it engaged.

When unhooking:
1) Remove RVI2 braking system
2) Set parking brake to keep from rolling
3) Disconnect tow bar, lights, etc.
4) Start engine and put trans in neutral
5) Shift transfer case to 4hi, trans back to Park
6) Good to go

No need to disconnect the battery. that will kill your auxiliary braking system if you have one.

I did not know the newer series Jeep did not have a steering lock, cool beans.

Here's the highlights of what's in the owner's manual for an Automatic Transmission... I left out all the cautions, notes and warnings about how towing improperly can cause injury or death, etc... I typed out a card, and laminated it. It's a little more entailed than my old 98 Dodge 2500 4x4 w/5-so manual transmission.

Shifting into Neutral...

1) Bring Vehicle to a complete STOP.
2) Press and hold the brake pedal.
3) Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL
4) Turn the engine OFF.
5) Shift the transfer case into NEUTRAL.
6) Start the engine.
7) Shift the transmission into REVERSE.
8) Release the brake pedal for 5 seconds and ensure there is no vehicle movement.
9) Repeat steps 7) and 8) in DRIVE.
10) Turn the engine OFF.
11) Firmly apply parking brake.
12) Shift the transmission into PARK.
13) Attach the vehicle to the coach.
14) Release the parking brake

Shifting out of Neutral......

1) Bring the vehicle to a complete stop.
2) Firmly apply the parking brake.
3) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
4) Turn the ignition switch to ON/RUN position, but do not start the engine.
5) Press and hold the brake pedal.
6) Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL.
7) Shift the transfer case into 2H.
Note: When shifting the transfer cas out of Neutral (N), the engine should remain OFF to avoid gear clash.
8) Shift the transmission into PARK.
9) Release the brake pedal.
10) Disconnect the vehicle from the coach.
11) Start the engine.
12) Press and hold the brake pedal.
13) Release the parking brake.
14) Shift the transmission into gear, release the brake pedal and check that the vehicle operates normally.
