HHR baseplate

I'm in the 'process', of setting my HHR up for flat towing. I inquired at the closest Blue Ox dealer about a base plate, and installation yesterday. Was quoted $3500.00, Includes the wiring kit, but doesn't include installing the wiring kit. Guess I'll be installing my own baseplate, and stuff. This was at an RV place, so I knew it would be a 'little' pricey, but 'come on man'?

HHR baseplate

I had an HHR and paid four hours labor for install including wiring kit . I don't recall the base plate price with wiring kit but I'm pretty sure it was under the $400-500 range. Therefore the whole deal should be under $1000.

I installed Blue Ox base plates in a 2011 HHR I had. It took me about 6 hours. It is not difficult if you are handy with tools. Blue Ox installation instructions tell you how to remove the front fascia and has pictures. The most difficult to me was drilling the holes, that is some hard steel. I went through 6 drill bits. Installed the wiring kit, also not difficult.

Mojo here are is a utube that will help with the installation know how. I have installed over 15 bracket kits although all of my installations have been Roadmaster neither is that hard, hardest thing about the wiring is running it under the car, I generally use 1/4 inch air tubing to fish it inside the frame, a lift would make that easy.

Thanks. Yeah, a lift makes everything easier.
