HHR owners water leak heads up...
My heater motor was only working on high and then quit. I noted the blower resistor had been replaced in Jan 2010 and the vehicle only has 4,000 miles since. In Googling I found the HHR has a water leak issue under the wiper assembly and can be resealed. Had I caught this earlier it would have saved the blower motor which has to be replaced. You can check this by pulling the in cabin filter which is located behind the glove box( didn't know this existed) and checking to see if damp, also check the felt under the glove box and floor board. Water will leak into the vent and can short out the resistor causing the blower to only work on high and if not corrected can burn out the blower. This link will give more details Fixed my water leak, last night!! - Chevy HHR Network. It is my understanding the 2008 and newer was corrected. Hope this helps some and save you a repair bill.

Cabin filter not very expensive around $12 and should be changed @12,000 miles. I pulled my cowl to repair the butyl patch and mine was missing, no wonder the resistor failed in 4,000 miles. I called a dealer and it appears the part I need is a cowl water deflector. The cost around $15 and I believe it is the GM fix for this problem, I'll see when I get the part. It's incredible that a poor design can create such an expensive problems.

I fixed several before whatever the latest GM fix is. I would reseal it then use self drilling screws to secure it. The problem is under heat the plastic cover droops and falls in under it's own weight.
For owners out of warranty ask to speak to the service manager and ask if they can repair it under goodwill. They have the authority to take care of it.
