We have new HHR and are setting it up for towing. I would like to know where you found the hot wires to splice in the diodes. I have found ( or think I have)the tail lights and the left turn under the driver's side rear seat but can't find the right turn and have not tried finding the brake lights as yet(have not tried under the right side rear seat yet) . The lights for the right side must split off before passing under left rear seat. If I find the brake wire on the left side will it also control the right side? I hope someone can guide me to the right turn and brake wires before I destroy a new car. I do have the 4 diode wiring kit from Blueox. Thanks heaps for any help.

You may find out that running a totally seperate bulb system will be much easier Tom.
I have used this method on my last 3 toweds. I hate cutting into the stock wiring systems.
The tail light asembly is tight on the HHR but trust me, several of us here have installed a seperate bulb in it. Good Luck.

The safest place to connect the diodes is at the rear lights directly. Run your wiring to the back of the car and connect directly into the OEM lights themselves. There are access doors on each side of the HHR to access the rear bulbs.

Thanks guys --- When it gets warmer I will go out and look everything over and see what I can get done. If the brake light and turn signal is the same filament then the four diodes will be all I need even if I locate at the OEM lights. If I remember correctly there are three wires going into the upper OEM lights -- that should be ground, tail and brake/turn signal. If so then I just have to find a way to feed the new wires to the back on both sides. That may be interesting.
If there are any other suggestions or recommendations to ease this job feel free to voice them.
Thanks again!!

Tom: If you've already got the back seat out you might as well go ahead there with your connections. If yours is the same as my 2006, there is a harness on both the right and left sides of the back seat. The left brake wire was yellow, right brake wire was aqua, high mount brake light was blue, tail light and turn signal was brown on EACH side.
Hope yours is the same and this helps as I hated to prick all those wires on a brand new car to find out.
