Has anyone wired an HHR for towing yet? I anticipated using a wiring/bulb kit but am at a loss about getting to the tail lights--not much room to put new sockets in.
May have to go with the diode set-up.

Base Plate installation looks to be fairly simple(famous last words).

Guess I'm in new territory here.

I've been trying to figure out a way to run the wires from the front to rear, without a lot of "Rube Goldberg" stuff.

Has anyone tackled this problem yet?

I have considered an HHR for toad, but I think there are still relatively few out there, so you may not get much feedback.

Have you tried calling the base plate manufacturer (Blue Ox, RoadMaster, etc) most are very helpful.

Take care.

Well, the wiring and baseplate are done! Not a bad job at all.

Used the diode set-up and ran the wires through the frame, drilled a hole in the floor, and hid the wires along the side, behind the trim.(passenger side)
The base plate was a Demco. Took about 4 hours. Worst part of the install was cutting the facsia to allow the base plate to fit. Kind of scary on a new car.
