Hidden button in the SRX

Just wondering, how many people use the hidden button on the 2009 and up Cadillac SRX's? I have talked to several owners in the last couple of weeks about this and only one knows and uses it.

I've seen it mentioned here and other RV sites, so there must be more than a few who use it. I heard it was even mentioned in the owner manaul - GM owner manuals typically have a section on Recreational (Dinghy) Towing.

This is used in a emergency situation if the need arises. Somebody figured out that you can safely tow when pressed. A friend of mine has towed over 30,000 miles utilizing the button. No need to pull fuses or even to place the transmission in the neutral position. Since there is no key hole or locking column, this is all that is needed.

I believe that is for the 2010 and later (2nd gen) SRX. I owned a 2010 and the "secret button" requires pulling the leather boot that's around the gear shift. I never tried it because I did not want to dismantle the interior to tow the Cadillac. A few months ago I traded it for a Lincoln. Gasp.
