I'm new to the motorhome experience and have just bought a used 32 foot Class C motorhome. I'd like to tow my 2014 Ford F-150 Limited but the seller tells me the Class III hitch isn't rated for my 5400 pound truck. Can anyone help educate me about hitch size and recommend a tow dolly that can tow my truck?

You are going to MAX Out your receiver @ 6,000lbs ...What is your GCWR for your MH....How much does your MH weigh loaded with fuel, water and passengers??? I have a class C and I just bought toad weighing 2500 lbs instead of my old one which weighed 3600 lbs...I hope you don't plan on pulling
many hills or MTS with that toad????

Tow dollies are intended for front wheel drive vehicles not rear wheel drive vehicles like your truck.

Plus your hitch is probably rated for 5,000#'s and usually can't be upgraded as the frame is usually the limiting factor.
And, as stated above, all tow dolly manufacturers state not to tow any vehicle backwards.
Your out will be to buy something that can be towed or get a bigger RV with a higher tow rating.

If your F150 is 4WD, then you can most likely tow it 4 down. But like others have stated, the weight is going to be a problem.

Check that hitch. See if it's a 2 ½ inch rather than 2 inch receiver. My 32ft class c is on a chev kodiak c5500 frame and has a 10000 pound rating We pull a 2004 chev aveo with a kar kaddy ss steerable dolly. Can't tell it's there and seems to make the rig easier to drive. No difference in mpg but only get 6-8 anyway.

Tow dolly's have towed a lot of rear wheel drive cars. That is not the problem.

The problem is whether or not the vehicle can be towed without a transmission pump or drive shaft disconnect. Start with Remco and see what they say.

In this case it's moot since the towed will most likely exceed the capacity of the vehicle and hitch.
