Does any one know for certain if a Honda Civic can be towed 4 wheels down w/out an oiler or disconnect?
I have conflicting information from dealers, and in general. Is any one doing it out there? Really would appreciate any and all input.

Don't know about 2008 models, but in 2007 only the CR-V was approved for towing 4 down. I doubt if that has changed for 2008. This is from the factory. If it isn't in the manual then towing is probably not approved. Dealers will probably tell you anything to make a sale, so beware.

Go to Remcotowing.com They can answer all your questions about what can or cannot be towed. The older Honda Civics were towable, the newer ones are not approved by Honda for towing.

Until and including 2005 Honda approved all Civics for towing.
In 2006 and 2007 Honda only approved the Honda CRV for towing.
Even though most of the Honda's can still be towed Honda will not warrant any 2006 or 2007 model except the CRV. Honda had lots of problems with owners not following Honda's prescribed pre-towing procedure and thus damaging the transmission.

This is what Remco says about towing a 2006 or 2007. Remoc says these year Hondas can be towed with no modifications. Remco will even sell you a transmission warranty for your Honda that will cover a problem if one develops.
But, Honda will not warrant a transmission problem.

I checked with the national Honda Cust Sv dept today and was advised the 2005 Honda Civic Sedan (is) tow able 4 wheels down. I was advised to obtain a letter from any Honda dealer detailing the shift procedure for towing behind a motor home. I did not ask how many years of Honda Civics this pertains to, wish I had.
