Honda CR-V Tire Wear

My 2011 AWD CR-V has 16250 miles and the tires will need to be replaced before we head out this coming Winter. I've towed it behind the MH since Nov 2011. Is it normal to see this much wear on tires with 16250 and approx. 5000 more miles behind the MH? Any suggestions as to what would be a good tire replacement?

BTW, tire wear is even, no alignment problems.

Our 2012 CR-V AWD has done 31,000 driving and 12,000 towing on the original tires. They probably have 5,000 miles left on them. I get them rotated and balanced at every oil change.

Just had 2013 in for oil change, tire rotation, and AWD case oil change. 13K miles on the CRV plus about 8K more behind the MH. Tires look fine, no appreciable wear noticed.

DW is out in the CR-V right now. I'll check when she gets back.

I can't comment on wear as I only have about 5000 miles on my 13. However, I have never had very good mileage from the OEM Tires on any new vehicle I have owned, not to mention handling characteristics.
Whenever these show signs of wear, they will be replaced by a new set of Michelins.

Most cars these days have power steering. With the engine off while towing, any turns by the MH will force the wheels to turn left or right to follow the MH. This has got to put more friction between the tire and the road surface than would be the case from just driving the Honda. Try turning a wheel left or right with the engine off, almost impossible.

I towed and drove our 2011 4 wheel drive CRV for about two years and replaced the tires because they were getting down to the tire wear indicators and we plan on traveling long trips. Replaced them to hopefully not have problems on the road. The odemeter had about 22K but we had drug the CRV around the US twice so there were many miles on the tires. I found Michelins on sale at Costco with a great mileage warranty so took that route.
