Honda CRV

Hello, I just read an article in Motorhome Magazine where a guy flat tows a Ford Edge. To prevent mileage accumulation during towing, he connected a constant-duty relay, which interrupts the signal from the ABS sensor to the computer and speedometer when there is power from a charging line. All it takes is opening the circuit on one wire of the pair.
Can this same principle be applied to a 2010 Honda CRV?
Thanks.

As I understand Federal Law it's illegal to stop or keep the odometer from reading as it was designed to.

I'm not sure what the problem is.

Does your CRV accumulate miles while towed? If so, there is a problem because it shouldn't and you need to find out why it is.

Most vehicles that can be towed 4-down do not register mileage when being towed because the ignition key is left in the "off" position for vehicles without a steering lock or in the "acc" position for vehicles with a steering lock. When the key is in one of those 2 positions, the odometers of most vehicles get no power so there is no mileage accumulated.

We tow a 2012 CRV and it does not accumulate mileage on odo while towed. Something must be wrong.

We've towed a Ford Focus, two Ford Explorers, the CRV and now a F150 and none logged miles when towed.

We are on CRV number two...neither have accumulated mileage when towed if set up correctly.

I have never checked my 2008 jeep GC for milage when towing, does anyone know if it does accumulate miles?
Thanks

My CRV definitely registers milage as I need to have the key in the acc position for the brake buddy to work. That's my problem. CRV has excess milage as it accumulates while rv-ing.

Does everyone use the acc position when towing? If not, how do you get power to a braking system? i.e. Brake Buddy?

Per the CRV Owner's Manual you must leave it in ACC (Position II). If you have it in the run position...yes you will accumulate miles and if you actually have it running, you well get the most fabulous MPG reading on the CRV after that pull. LOL

As to power to the aux brakes, that is dependent on the brake system...my AF One gets it directly from the battery. I'm not familiar with Brake Buddy but I am certain those with it can address that question.

Our 2004 CR-V doesn't rack up miles while being towed.

The 2002 Silverado, 2006 Saturn Vue and 2013 Equinox we used to tow all had to have the key in ACC to keep the steering wheel from locking, and none of them accumulated mileage. Obviously, the CRV is wired differently, at least they were in 2010.

If the only reason you're leaving the key in ACC is to keep a 12V outlet hot and not to keep the steering from locking, all you need to do is install a new 12V outlet that is hot all the time. I had to do that in our Equinox because the 12V outlets in front only stayed hot when the key was ON.
