Thinking of moving up yo a 16 Honda CR-V, but having a problem finding a faceplate. Any suggestions on finding a good aftermarket faceplate?

Due to a change to the CVT transmission, the Honda CRV is no longer 4 down towable since the 2015 model year.

I see Blueox offers a baseplate for the 2016 Pilot. I called one of the salespeople at my Honda dealership and he is checking into towing the Pilot.

You might look into a '16 CRV's ability to be towed 4 down. My understanding is they are not - due to a transmission engineering change.

Yes......as of the change to the new CVT transmission Honda no longer has a flat ( 4 down ) towable vehicle in their line up. They built themselves out of the RV towable market.....

I believe that manual transmission versions of the Fit are still towable.

I believe any MANUAL transmissions are towable. But the new CVT automatic isn't. The automatic Fit...up to 2011 (?) is flat towable. Mater of fact I'm going tomorrow morning to a local Honda dealer to look at a 2011 Fit...and will double check the owners manual. I'll be trading in my 2008 CRV

You are correct but for one thing. 2014 was the last 4 down tow year for the CR-V. I did not know this until after we had bought ours. So glad I bought when I did. We are loving the '14 CR-V. I suggest that the OP try to find a used '14.

Happy trails,
Rick Y

Honda Fit manual and Honda HR-V manual versions are both towable stock with no modifications. I am in process of installing a Blue Ox base plate on a 2016 HR-V LX with 5 speed manual. I got the serial # 2 base plate LOL !

honda fit 2009-2011 is basically the same car. i have a 2010's automatic with 52k miles on the clock, and another like 20k dinghy. so far really nothing has been wrong except one of the engine mounts i replaced, plus normal oil/fluid changes. roomy inside and easy to tow.

if you like a little higher road clearance, you can use 195/55/16 (as i did) instead of 185/55/16 oe tire; or even 195/60/16 (i think it will fit but i have not done it myself so needs to verify).

The Honda Fit, equiped with an automatic transmission, is towable 4 down through the 2013 model year. There was a no 2014 model. 2015 an onward the Fit and the HRV (shares the Fit platform) are towable only in the manual transmission models.

According to Honda none of the pilots after 2004 were towable, but some do and it works for them. We went through that with their legal dept some years ago with our '05 Ody. They finally agreed to pay us some $2,200 for the towing gear we bought and had installed. We had it in writing on Honda letterhead that the '05 Ody was towable four down which is the only reason they paid us anything. We even asked about getting a Pilot and they said the '05's weren't towable either and have held to that ever since.
In fact the only ones that were "blessed" to tow four down with the CR-V and Fit.

Actually, the Honda Elements through I believe 2005 or 2006 are also towable 4 down. Says so in the Owners Manual, and on the Honda website, and we've been doing it for a while.

I just bought a 2014 CRV with 6700 miles on it. Like brand new and in great condition. They're out there if that's what you want.
