Honda CRV steering lock

On my 2013 Honda CRV AWD I have always left the keys in Accessory while towing, to keep the wheel unlocked. Today, while parked, keys out, I was able to turn the wheel. Does the CRV have a steering lock? If not, is there any reason why I would want to keep the keys in the ignition while towing? I have a dedicated outlet for the brake buddy, so no need there.

I also have a 2013 CRV AWD. That is a good question. I would follow the manual since it says to leave the key in the accessory position. I wonder if might have something to do with the transmission lubrication. I would ask my dealer service person, but I don't think they are that knowledgeable about flat towing.

That's a good point. I think I'll continue to leave the key in accessory. It's what I've always been used to. We carry spare "dummy" keys to lock the door.

Just checked our 12 CRV , same basic car. The steering did lock after turning the steering wheel about a 1/4 of a turn, much more than I was use to.

There are about 6 detents in the steering lock plate. The pawl is spring loaded and will lock in the first detent it comes to when the wheel is turned. Do not tow it 4 down unless the ign. is in the accessory position. The transmission lubrication is handled by the routine explained in the manual.
