I have to go with the majority on this one, I have had a few different Motor homes and a few different Jeeps 2 YJ's and currently a 2010 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. I have towed them all with 0 problems. The other thing, as its been said, Half the fun is getting there, which leaves the other half for adventure ;-) OIIIIIO It's a Jeep thing!

Thanks again for the help. Just yesterday I came home with my new (to me) 2008 Jeep Liberty. We're getting baseplates installed next week and I should be ready to tow.

One of the things that kind of made the decision for me is something I hadn't really considered initially. It seems like the baseplate pins on the Honda Fit are only 13.5 inches off the ground, whereas the receiver on my motor home is 20 inches high. I don't think I could tow the Fit safely if I wanted to.

Just make sure you follow the tow bar mfg guidelines for any difference in height between the hitch receiver and the toad. I needed a 6" drop receiver adaptor to get my bar level.

Very important for safe braking, expecially emergency stops.

I think you made a good choice! We have both our Fit and CR-V set up to tow, the Fit was definitely lighter, but quite honestly, I don't think the MH noticed or cared, we get 7-7.5 mpg regardless of which one we tow. The big advantage of the CR-V is ground clearance! We have rubbed the front lip under the front end of the Fit on numerous occasions due to it being so low. I also have to use a drop hitch receiver with the Fit ti maintain the recommended angle of our Blue Ox tow bar. CR-V is easier to initially set up from that perspective alone. The Even Brake sits better in the CR-V as well because the floor of the front drivers seat is not flat, nor is it square! I've never owned a Jeep, but from the ground clearance perspective alone, I feel it's a better choice. BTW, we are selling our Fit if anyone's interested!

I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara model. We also have a 2003 Jeep Liberty.
These are easy to tow 4 wheels down, manual transfer case to neutral, transmission in park, ignition key to 1st position. They hold 4 adults comfortably, have room for your gear, and should the opportunity arise you can off-road.

We tow our old '76 CJ7 with no problems. I converted the rear axle to full floating axles and installed Toyota locking hubs so i can turn all 4 wheels to the free mode and nothing in the drive train turns. I also removed the locking pin from the steering column so the steering no longer locks when the key is turned off.

I just bought a Fit 2 weeks ago to use as my toad to the class C I just bought 2 weeks ago. The Fit has LOW ground clearance and in the Honda literature it is referred to as a city car.

A Honda CRV is the other 2010 model Honda that can be towed 4 down. (Don't know about 2011 models.) It is also a great riding car and every bit a Honda. You might prefer the ground clearance. I bought the bottom of the line Honda Fit due to lower cost than the CRV.
