I have a 2003 holiday rambler vacationer w22 36.6 ft long with 8.1 vortex engine. 2 slides. I own a 2007 Tahoe but I think that vehicle will be to heavy. And thoughts on size and what is the best and or easyist to tow. Thanks Steve Vacaville. Ca

Hi srzak,
You have a nice looking coach.
My assumption is you are asking about towing 4 down. There are many variables to determining this. At a high level, 5K lbs is a rough guess.
Is there a hitch on the coach? Does it have a weight rating? What is the ready to travel weight of the coach. How does that compare to the GVWR? Do you know what the combined vehicle weight rating is? One must know these thing and do a bit of math to determine how much one can tow.
Lastly, will you be traveling in the mountains or flat land?

If I'm reading the specs correctly the HR website for this unit Vacationer by Holiday Rambler
lists a max of 4000lbs for the W22. The FMCA 2007 towing guide has the Tahoe curb weight at approx 5050 lbs.

Tow capacity is the GCWR minus the weight of the tow vehicle...and of course not exceeding the hitch's capacity.

Remember that curb weight is for the base model. Once you add options, the weight goes up. Plus you will have the tow bar and baseplate weight. The only way to know the weight of a vehicle is to put it on a scale. My opinion, and it is worth exactly what you are paying for it, is that you would be happier towing the PT. Unless manual you will need a tranny pump.
Also, unless the Tahoe is 4WD you will need some modifications such as driveline disconnect. If it is 4WD the weight will be about 5800#.

The difference between the GVWR and the GCWR is 4000 lbs, so you can tow at least that much. Changes are the actual coach weight is less than the 22,000 lb GVWR, so that might increase your tow limit a bit. But the receiver is almost surely limited to 5000 lbs, so that's your upper limit. The Yukon exceeds that even without any "stuff" onboard.

I went and weighted my 03 he vacationer it came in at 21,500 lbs, so the most I could tow and load would be 4500 lbs. That's me, plus all loaded up. So I figure if I keep a tow vehicle to 3500 pounds I have 1000 pounds . For any goodies we want to take.

If you use a dolly you will be adding additional weight. Plus you will have to deal with a place to park the dolly while at home and while camping.
If you decide to tow the PT it will probably need a Remco lube pump if it is not an automatic. We use the Remco pump on our 2004 Buick Rendezvous and it works great.

In the last 8 years and 35K miles of travel I have never had a problem with a place to put the dolley. I have always parked it on the same lot the MH parks on or if I am just overnighting or just staying for a couple of days I park on a pullthrough lot and just leave it hooked up. My demco kar kaddy ss folds in half for easy storage.

According to the Remco site a Lube Pump is required for all of the automatic transmissions. You might want to check it out. Here is the link. Application Charts | Remco Towing
