Interested in installing the pump on my older PT Cruiser. How is the long term reliability of the pump? If something went wrong--> what happened? I am always leary of adding mechanical/electrical items, since murphy's law says something bad will happen. I liked the TrailBlazer toad since I did not have to deal with a pump... but I am getting rid of that car and wanted to use an existing "used" car as the new toad...

Lube pumps have a monitor in the coach that will beep if:
- switch is on but no pump is attached
- switch of OFF but pump and toad are attached
- loss of pressure in the pump system

I used a lube pump on my Town & Country minivan for a year and finally gave up on it. If I drove for more than two hours in 90+ degree weather, the monitor would chirp like it was momentarily losing pressure. Took it to two different installers, spoke to Remco directly and they could not solve the problem.

I now tow a Jeep with no pump and ZERO problems.

I have read of the pump failing in a way that did not alarm

I went with the Axle Lock on my Lumina APV..

Problems expiereneced: ZERO
Problems anticipated in my life time: ZERO

Technology is older than I am and I"ve never heard of a failure save when someone forgot to do proper maintance,,,, and that was a different product (This one needs no maintenance save peridoic inspection of the end caps. which the half-axle it replaced needed any way., In short, no special maintenance needed.

There is a saying about a Remco pump...
"If you use one, you have bought a new transmission or you WILL"
No personal experience but there are folks out there who coined that saying...plus hearing that if there is a problem with the pump failing, you are on your own.....

I've decided to get either a grand cherokee or another trailblazer... they're heavier, but I need a vehicle also capable of towing 'other toys'...

You can get some great deals on 2008 leftover Grand Cherokees. 30%+ off sticker price. I bought a 2008 Grand Cherokee CRD Diesel in June and it tows great and I'm getting 23mpg!
