How to check operation of Mopar Harness

I will be installing the Mopar harness before picking up the motorhome. Is there a way to check the operation of the harness without a motorhome attached?

tks

Jim

Not sure what plug in the harness has , but if it's a standard 7 pin Bargman , you could find a neighbor or friend with the same connector on their truck.

Are you installing this harness on a Jeep ?

Yes, on a jeep

The harness is the standard Mopar part with the 7 pin connector. I guess what I want to do is simulate the output of the motorhome to the input of the jeep and see if the lights work. Just not sure what is sent from the MH.

There is an industry standard for the 7 pin plug and a diagram of the pin out can be found here.

Get yourself a test light, and use it as a jumper.
clip the wire lead to the pos of the jeep battery (may need a extra piece of wire).

Now probe each pin on the jeep side connector, following the standard pinout.
doing it this way, the lights will light at 1/2 brightness, BUT you wont blow any fuses.
If you accidently probe the ground pin, the test light will light at full brightness.

Regards,

Dan

I tested mine by hooking it up to my pickup which has the same seven pin connector. The Mopar harness has to have 12v to the #4 battery charge pin for the relays to engage inside the little net sack on the harness. If there is no power to that pin, the lights on the toad will not work.

OK, now let's see. Which Harness are you talking about? The Cars' Trailer harness, which has nothing to do with MH towing or are you talking about the TSB for the Cherokee Death Wobble?

Well I'll be, MOPAR does make a Tow Vehicle Wiring Harness. That's a new one on me.

U-Haul stores sell a 6 pin & a 7 pin light tester. Also available on Amazon. Bought a 6 pin tester a few years ago for under $20 I believe from Amazon.
