How to have a toad? Dolly, tow bar or trailer?
My DW and I have 3 vehicles; a 97 BMW Z3 2 seater convertible, Ford Ranger, and Subaru Forrester. I know the Forrester can't be towed. I think my Z3 is too low to tow with a bar. The Ranger can be pulled any way I decide. The Z3 is fun at the beach and on the open road, gets great mpg, but is only a 2 seater with little space and maybe could be dollied. The Forrester is more practical but has to be trailered.
I'm thinking a tow bar on the Ranger is my best option. The other 2 could be hauled on a trailer, but a trailer to haul the Ranger or the Forrester would be more expensive due to length and weight of the vehicles.
Can anyone offer an opinion on their method of towing or offer me their opinion on my situation?
Thanks

The Z3 is rear wheel drive and would need to be dollied backward, none of the dolly manufacturers recommends that method.

thanks
Thanks, Mr. D. I didn't realize that. As low as my car is, the nose would be dragging on the pavement.

No way I would want to fool with a tow dolly or car trailer - having to find a place to put it and then put it there, and then to retrieve it when ready to go again...
4 down is the way to go, IMO. Just connect up the tow bar, and go.

Yep...flat tow the ranger...I assume it has a neutral position on the transfer case...manual locking hubs...then all you need is the towbar, base plates, a braking system, and wire it up so you have lights on it...running lights, brake, and turn signals...some folks find all the previous mentioned stuff used...if not you are looking at $2.5 to 3K...initial expenditure...but well worth it
