If you're using a 6 or 7 pin hook-up for your toad wiring, you probably have an unused pin and a ground connection. Make sure ground is connected in RV and Toad. Buy two 20-30 amp auto reset 12 v circuit breakers(CB). Put one CB on wire hooked to (+) post on RV battery and run wire (12 AWG) to RV umbilical plug on rear of RV. In toad run wire from unused pin in plug to battery (+) with second CB in line near toad battery. The CB's prevent damage from shorts and also from either toad or RV battery trying to 'pull' too much power from other battery. I've had this set up for thousands of miles of trouble free towing and battery is always charged. No diodes or expensive toad charger boxes. Also, no separate charge line needed for hook up.

Roadmaster baseplate and tow bar. Installed separate sockets in tailights. Charge line no problem, look in Owner's Manual for how to attach jumper cables and just hook charge line to those points (they're under the hood, driver side).
