I am thinking about going down the other side of the Eisenhower tunnel.
Like slowing down???

People will probably be able to help a bit better if they know what you're towing and what you're towing it with.

DRW diesel tow rig is a whole different animal than a Yukon.

No worries,

Flip the exhaust brake on and let the exhaust brake and transmission do the work for you.

If you do need to scrub off speed don't ride the brakes, just brake semi-hard to get to a bit under the speed you want then let the engine/transmission go back to work.

We travel that road often. Just let the trans do the slowing. Don't ride your brakes. Also keep in mind Vail Pass. Up takes all the power you have and down again requires the trans to do the slowing down. Eyes on the road even though it is beautiful!

Another bit of advice - if you go UP in 3rd gear (for example), go DOWN in the same gear. Let the transmission/exhaust brake do the work. We live in Pagosa Springs, CO, and travel over Wolf Creek Pass (US160) frequently, which is much steeper than I-70, without problems. Enjoy the trip!

just watch the traffic, don't be surprised if you need to pass semi's and their brakes are smoking heading downhill-as others have said-don't ride your brakes & let your tranny do most of the work, but you'll need to brake aggressively to bleed off speed a couple of times on the way down
