I-90 TOAD Wreck

Just observed a HHR TOAD wrecked on I-90W in NY near the Pattersonville Service area. The receiver and hitch were attached to the TOAD but the towing vehicle (presuming a MH) was nowhere in sight. Wonder when the RVer figured out that it was missing. Couldn't see for sure, as we passed the wreck, but it did not look like the breakaway worked if a supplemental braking system was installed. Could the breakaway cable have been attached to the receiver? This is the second time in 5 years I've observe this type of accident. Yearly the receiver attachment bolts should be sounded for tightness. JM2...

I know what your saying. We saw a atv rolled and wreaked that had to have fallen off a trailer on I-25 near Pueblo Colorado last Sunday with no trailer or tow vehicle in sight. My opinion has always been that no good can ever come from towing something. You just can't take human and mechanical failure out of the equation.

NY state roads will certainly test any towing equipment. When the MH driver felt the big bump and loud noise they just assumed it was a normal NY pothole.

Huh?..Groceries are pretty good and most everything material you have has traveled by trailer.

Good reminder to check and inspect all towing equipment, all the time.
