Their labor rate is $130/hour so it looks 13.5 hours for the brake system and another 10.5 hour for the base plate and tow bar.

The TOAD is a Jeep Wrangler JL. One of the new models.

My initial reaction was sticker shock. But to be fair I’ve never had this done before. We are moving from a tow dolly so I have no context.

As background, I’m not mechanically inclined so I don’t see doing this myself.

I’d like to hear opinions and recommendations from those of you who have been down this road.

Thanks,

Rod
The price does sound a bit high. The dealer is quoting labor at a little over $125.00 per hour. Those rates aren't out of line in that our local Ford and Chevrolet dealers are charging the same rate. Our local Lincoln dealer charges $177.00 per hour.

As for the amount of time it all depends on the quality of the job you want. I've seen brake systems installed in as little as 2.5 hours, but it looked like it. There were wires and hoses dangling all over the place and nothing was labeled. The system worked, but it looked like it was installed by a trained monkey.

On the other hand I've seen systems take as long as 3 days to install. In those cases all the wires and hoses were run through the existing harnesses, and were all clearly labeled so any future work would not be a guessing game.

If the dealer is going to do the second type of install I mentioned it might be worth the price. If they are going to do a "close enough is good enough" installation the price is too high.
